Conservatória - RJ

Introduction

ConservatóriaEighteenth-century missionaries founded a Music School for the Araris Indians on a paradisiacal slope of the Fluminense Mountains. It was this conservatory that gave the city its name.

Marked by music since its foundation, Conservatória is now considered the world capital of seresta and serenade. On Friday and Saturday nights, artists, muses, poets, seresteiros, and minstrels gather at the Museum of Seresta around 8 PM, and around 11 PM, everyone heads out into the town playing and singing love songs and reciting poems into the early hours of the morning, until dawn breaks.

Conservatória was the natural setting for the soap operas: “O Feijão e o Sonho” and “A Escrava Isaura”.

House music is seresta, street music is serenade.
